Samburu National Reserve is a unique safari destination in northern Kenya, set along the Ewaso Nyiro River. It is best known for its rare wildlife species, often called the “Samburu Special Five” — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. The reserve offers striking semi-arid landscapes dotted with acacia trees, dramatic hills, and a rich cultural presence of the Samburu people. It’s a quieter, more intimate alternative to the Masai Mara, ideal for spotting rare animals and experiencing authentic cultural interactions.
